Our Story

A Legacy of Southern Hospitality

Piccadilly Cafeterias has been a beloved institution in the Southeastern United States for nearly a century, serving traditional Southern favorites with a commitment to quality and community.

1941
By 1941, Grady Allred had become the sole owner, transforming the restaurant into a thriving cafeteria-style establishment. Despite challenges, including a devastating fire, K&W Cafeterias persevered, adapting and growing through the decades.
1962
K&W Cafeterias begins its expansion beyond Winston-Salem, opening our second location in High Point, North Carolina. This marks the beginning of a significant growth phase for our company. As we transition fully to the cafeteria-style service that has become our hallmark, we find that our affordable, home-style cooking resonates with customers across the state. Our expansion allows us to bring the K&W experience to more communities, serving traditional Southern favorites to an ever-growing customer base. This period of growth sets the foundation for K&W to become a beloved institution throughout North Carolina and beyond.
1991
K&W introduces the "To Go Shop" takeout service, marking a significant expansion of our business model. This new offering allows customers to enjoy our home-style cooking in the comfort of their own homes or offices. The To Go Shop quickly becomes a popular option, meeting the growing demand for convenient, quality meals and contributing substantially to our overall business growth. This innovation helps K&W adapt to changing consumer preferences and solidifies our position as a versatile dining option in the communities we serve.
2009
K&W launches K&W Catering, expanding our services to include delivery for special occasions such as weddings, family gatherings, social events, and corporate meetings. This new venture allows us to bring our beloved home-style cooking to a wider audience, providing the same quality and care that customers have come to expect from our cafeterias. The catering service quickly gains popularity, becoming an integral part of our business and allowing us to serve our community in new and meaningful ways.
Today
Today, we proudly operate 11 locations across North Carolina and Virginia, serving the same comforting dishes that have made us a staple in our communities.

A New Chapter

In 2022, Piccadilly Cafeterias was acquired by Falcon Holdings, a company founded by the remarkable entrepreneur Aslam Khan. This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter in our story, combining our rich heritage with innovative leadership.

Aslam Khan's journey....

Aslam Khan's journey is a true American success story. Born into poverty in Pakistan, Khan immigrated to the United States in 1987 with only $20 in his pocket. He started as a dishwasher at a Church's Chicken restaurant and worked his way up through sheer determination and hard work.

By 1999, Khan had founded Falcon Holdings and acquired 97 Church's restaurants. Today, he is one of the most successful franchisees in the world, operating hundreds of restaurants across multiple brands.

Khan's business philosophy of "putting people first" aligns perfectly with Piccadilly's longstanding commitment to our employees and customers. Under his leadership, we look forward to continuing our tradition of serving delicious, affordable home-style meals while exploring new opportunities for growth and innovation.

As we move forward under the Falcon Holdings umbrella, we remain committed to the values that have made Piccadilly a Southern institution: quality food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We're excited to write the next chapter of our story with you, our valued customers, by our side.
